A SMART HOME Refers to a convenient home setup where appliances and devices can be automatically controlled remotely from anywhere with an internet connection using a mobile or another networked device. Devices in a smart home are interconnected through the internet, allowing the user to control functions such as security access to the home, temperature, lighting, and a home theater remotely.

  • Allows homeowners to control appliances, thermostats, lights, and other devices remotely using a smartphone or tablet through an internet connection.
  • Can be set up through wireless or hardwired systems.
  • Provides homeowners with convenience and cost savings.
  • Security risks and bugs continue to plague makers and users of smart home technology.

The monitor system is constructed to obtain the required data through two steps.

  • INTERNET OF THINGS (IOT)

    The IoT brings the power of the internet, data processing and analytics to the real world of physical objects. For consumers, this means interacting with the global information network without the intermediary of a keyboard and screen; many of their everyday objects. Appliances can take instructions from that network with minimal human intervention.

  • HOME ENERGY MANAGEMENT

    Monitor and control services such as heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, ensuring the home operates at maximum levels of efficiency and removing wasted energy usage and associated costs. The optimal level of efficiency is achieved by continuously maintaining the correct balance between operating requirements, external and internal environmental conditions, and energy usage.

  • ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

    AI-powered and IoT-enabled applications like personalized and predictive automation along with predictive maintenance will enhance the user experience and add value to the smart homes by making life more secure, comfortable, convenient, and safe. AI is the ability of a computer or a robot controlled by a computer to do tasks that are usually done by humans because they require human intelligence and discernment

PROJECT OBJECTIVES
  • Visualize the energy consumption patterns and data of typical households in Egypt.
  • Provide the basic data to formulate highly effective Energy Efficiency and Conservation (EE&C) policies for Egyptian governments concerned.
  • Increase the awareness of Egyptian people on the importance of EE&C and the promotion of EE&C products

SYSTEM FUNCTIONS
  • The system is connected to all devices 24x7x365
  • The power consumption patterns are continuously collected.
  • The collected date is displayed on a life dashboard.
  • The power consumption of different household patterns are studied and reported, giving a good indicator of the impact of different lifestyles on the distribution of power consumed by different appliances.
  • The mobile application recommends action (turning on/off the appliances).
  • The user approves and executes actions or dismisses it.
